Colin Poole

Tesuque, New Mexico

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio arts with a concentration in sculpture at the Connecticut College, the grandson of the sculptor Una Hanbury, was seeded with artistic lessons in his childhood that continued to blossom well into adulthood. Mentored by David Smalley in metal sculpture, and Lou Stovall in silk screen, it is no wonder why he is a world renowned artist who has shown all over the country such as ‘The Museum of American Illustration’ in New York; ‘The Charles Sumner Museum’ in Washington, D.C.; and ‘Norton Art Foundation’ in Shreveport, LA and has been commissioned by private and corporate clients such as AT&T; Coca-Cola; DuPont; Exxon; Hilton; International Paper; J. Walter Thompson; National Audubon Society; The Nature Conservancy; Sony; PBS; U.S. Postal Service; Visa, and much more. He is in the personal collections of the Lourdes Cathedral in France; National Geographic Society; Saatchi and Saatchi; U.S. Mint and over 350 private collectors, including those of actors Tim Allen and John Travolta. With an unquenchable craving to wander and play, that he portrays in the twists of his ‘Tuscan dirt roads’ or in the shadows of the ‘bordering cypress trees’ in his work, he attempts to create a map for his viewers with the “directions to show the routes of his mind” and how thoughts move from female form to Mediterranean landscape to a beautifully pocked and scarred quince. But even with tales of travel and longing, in truth, he wishes the viewer to experience his work unencumbered by his words.
