Robert Winston

A master craftsman, he began his woodworking career as a young boy building musical instruments. After a career creating a variety of furniture, he now focuses on heirloom rocking chairs and dining chairs of cherry, oak, and most often from black walnut harvested from 200 year old trees, which he had cut and dried to his specifications. Having studied engineering at Lehigh University in 1971, he continued to create sculptural pieces and was awarded First Place in Sculpture at the Intercollegiate Art Show in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In 1975 he took First Place in the Bucks County Craft Show, New Hope, Pennsylvania, and shortly after decided to take his woodworking talents toward manufacturing solid wood and glass solariums. As founder and president of Creative Structures, Inc., he acquired two patents for rafter-locking and beam lamination systems, and then sold the company in 1995 to pursue his love of furniture building once again. Many types of woodworking have influenced Winston, including the works of Wharton Eshrick, Sam Maloof, and George Nagashima. Currently he continues to develop his unique style in his ever-evolving line of tables, chairs and cabinets.
